AS4 WDYK?

The discovery layer for the age of asking

Consumers are stopping searching and starting asking.

AS4 aligns and defragments the truth about people, businesses, products, services and places—so conversational AI can give a better answer.

A question, not a filter

“I need an experienced independent estate agent who understands older rural property, gives honest advice and won’t hand me between departments. Who should I speak to?”

AS4 helps the machine understand enough to answer.Intent · geography · service · evidence · people

01 / What it is

The internet has plenty of information.
What it lacks is agreement.

AS4 is a canonical, machine-legible discovery infrastructure. It helps people, search engines and conversational systems understand who a business or person is, what they do, where they operate and where the authoritative account can be found.

Information about a business is commonly scattered across websites, directories, portals, social media, biographies, listings and third-party databases.

Some may be accurate. Some may be incomplete, duplicated, disconnected or out of date. AS4 brings those fragments into a clearer, attributable and maintainable form.

A question, not a filter

Search begins with keywords.
Discovery begins with need.

TRADITIONAL SEARCH

“Estate agents Ludlow”

  • Finds pages
  • Matches keywords
  • Leaves the consumer to assemble the answer
CONVERSATIONAL DISCOVERY

“Who genuinely understands the sort of home I want?”

  • Interprets meaning
  • Connects people, place and evidence
  • Is expected to return an answer

AS4 helps give the machine enough clear, connected and attributable information to do that responsibly.

02 / How AS4 works

Clearer truth. Better discovery.

1

Find

AS4 begins by establishing who and what exists.

2

Connect

It connects the relevant people, businesses, services, places and evidence.

3

Clarify

It reduces ambiguity and distinguishes supported information from unsupported claims.

4

Distribute

It makes the canonical account useful to people, search engines and conversational AI.

These stages describe the purpose of AS4. The underlying classification, verification and scoring methods are proprietary.

03 / AS4’s vocabulary

A language for the discovery environment.

Digital IDD™

Digital Identity Definition

The clearest connected account of the public, professional or commercial identity of a person or organisation. It is not KYC or proof that somebody legally exists.

Branded Truth

The account you can stand behind

The authoritative account of a business that its people are prepared to stand behind publicly—not a slogan or unsupported advertising.

Brand-site

Truth built for people and machines

A structured, attributable and readable home for a Branded Truth. It complements a conventional website rather than necessarily replacing it.

AS4 Score

Clarity and completeness

An indication of how clearly and completely AS4 can understand and connect an identity. It is not a rating, award or league-table position, and it cannot be bought.

Nest

Connected offices

A connected group of offices operating as part of the same agency.

Well

Meaningful geography

The meaningful operating geography associated with an individual office.

Rookery

Market relationships

A wider concentration of relationships between agents, offices and property markets.

Flight

Reach and movement

The reach and movement of agency activity across those markets.

VOLTS

Voice Optimised Long Tail Search

A way for somebody to describe the home, place, business or service they actually mean in natural language.

The internal classifications, thresholds and determining rules behind these terms are not published here.

Why AS4 begins with property

Property is local, complicated and human.

Property businesses are difficult for machines to understand accurately. An agent’s real operating area may not follow a postcode boundary, while its people, brands and services may be poorly connected online.

AS4’s property foundation encompasses tens of thousands of estate- and letting-agent branches.

The purpose is not another closed portal or a directory in which visibility depends entirely on payment. AS4 begins with the existence of the market and works to improve how clearly its participants can be understood.

“Who exists, what do we know, and how confidently can the relevant information be connected?”

The detailed market map behind that work is proprietary.

A living geography

Property markets do not stop at postcode lines.

Estate agency operates through local knowledge, reputation, relationships, historic activity and overlapping markets. AS4 uses Nests, Wells, Rookeries and Flights to describe that geography more meaningfully.

Where a business is basedWhere it says it operatesThe market with which it is genuinely associated

AS4 publishes the resulting explanation where useful. It does not publish the complete classification system used to produce it.

VOLTS

People do not naturally think in database fields.

Filters identify what fits inside predetermined boxes. VOLTS is intended to help machines understand the context behind a request—not merely match price, postcode, bedrooms, property type and radius.

“An older house with a proper garden, somewhere quiet but not isolated, with room for my mother to stay and somewhere I can walk the dog without getting in the car.”

Evidence and professional judgement

Technology should strengthen professional judgement, not pretend to replace it.

ONE LIVE PROPERTY CASE STUDY

£1,005 apart

AS4 recorded a pre-inspection evidence-based indication of £411,005. The property subsequently sold for £410,000.

This single example is not proof that AS4 can predict every sale price, nor does it establish a universal accuracy rate. It demonstrates the value of aligning relevant evidence before experienced professional judgement is applied.

The first working brand-site

Samuel Wood became the first external example.

Created with Andrew Cadwallader, the Samuel Wood brand-site gives people and machines a coherent account of the independent Shropshire agent: its people, history, offices, services, geography and way of working.

It does not attempt to replace Samuel Wood’s existing website. It helps explain the business behind that website.

A deliberately qualified claim

Could this be a world first?

We believe this may be the world’s first brand-site created by a canonical AI-discovery infrastructure to establish and demonstrate its own Branded Truth for people, search engines and conversational AI.

There are websites built using AI.There are websites about AI.There are websites designed for visibility in AI answers.

An AS4 brand-site has a different purpose. It forms part of the canonical discovery infrastructure it describes.

AS4 is applying to itself the same principle it applies to others: define the entity; establish the authoritative account; connect its people, purpose and evidence; make that account understandable to people and machines; and keep it current.

This brand-site is not merely a description of the product. It is the product demonstrating itself.

04 / Our Branded Truth

What AS4 believes

People are not portal inventory.

Businesses should not have to surrender their identity and customer relationship merely to be discovered.

The truth should not depend on the largest budget.

A smaller independent business may be the best answer even when it is not the biggest advertiser.

Machines need clarity, not marketing fog.

If a claim matters, it should be explainable, attributable and kept current.

Evidence should support professional judgement.

Technology should help experienced people reach better-informed decisions.

Local knowledge is more than a postcode radius.

Real operating geography is shaped by people, activity, reputation and relationships.

Discovery should lead back to the business.

AS4 helps somebody find the appropriate organisation. It is not designed to stand permanently between them.

Who is behind AS4?

Built from property experience, not marketing theory.

What AS4 is not

Infrastructure, not another portal.

Not a paid league tableNot a review scoreNot an automated substitute for property professionalsNot a promise that every machine-generated answer will be correct

AS4 is infrastructure intended to make authoritative information clearer, better connected and easier for people and machines to discover.

The question behind everything

WDYK?

What do you know about this person?

What do you know about this business?

What do you know about this place?

Where did that information come from?

How current is it?

How confidently do the fragments belong together?

WDYK? is AS4’s challenge to the machine and its invitation to the user.

Not the loudest view. The Best View of You.
